The Very Hungry Caterpillar set for family fun at Gulliver’s Valley

Families from across the region will be able to share the joy of the iconic children’s picture book and brand, The Very Hungry Caterpillar thanks to an exciting partnership with Gulliver’s Valley.

Everyone’s favourite friendly character from the illustrated book by Eric Carle – which has sold more than 54 million copies worldwide – is now set to thrill families visiting South Yorkshire’s newest theme park in Rotherham.

The much-loved classic, which is a hit with grown-ups and children alike, centres on a story about a hungry caterpillar which emerges from an egg and begins eating everything in sight – the book complete with holes that he has supposedly eaten through. He grows into a large caterpillar and builds a cocoon around himself before finally emerging as a beautiful butterfly.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar will now be making daily appearances at Gulliver’s Valley for socially distanced photo and meet and greet opportunities.

As covid restrictions ease, there are also plans for exclusive Very Hungry Caterpillar themed birthday parties as well as the popular character joining in the fun at Gully Town Tots sessions which are starting again in June.

Dean Kimberley, director of guest services at Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts, said: “We’re very excited to announce the arrival of The Very Hungry Caterpillar at Gulliver’s Valley which is sure to delight our young visitors and their families and adds yet another element to our expanding offering at the resort.

“The colourful and distinctive caterpillar will make fun appearances, greeting fans with its friendly face – all from a safe distance – while giving the opportunities for selfies and smiles. But this is only the start of things to come as we also have plans for birthday parties and more so watch this space!

“We’re thrilled to welcome The Very Hungry Caterpillar for 2021 and know our customers will enjoy the experience, too.”
